Our Vancouver client is seeking a Senior Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Specialist with technical security background to implement and guide DLP strategies, optimize Microsoft Purview.


12 months contract, 100% Remote (PST Hours) candidates must be based BC


Must Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in a systems administration or technical security role, with a focus on DLP solutions and data security ideally within a financial services or regulated environment.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and managing Microsoft Purview, data leak incidents, data governance, compliance, and DLP policies.
  • Strong systems administration skills, with experience in configuring, deploying, and maintaining DLP tools and related security technologies.
  • Data security platform experience, particularly Qo-Hash, or similar with experience implementing or integrating them into an enterprise environment.
  • Incident response expertise, including experience with data security incidents, root cause analysis, and the implementation of long-term resolutions.
  • A core security certification such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH and/or DLP certification.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues in data protection and security.
  • Strong communication skills to provide guidance and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams, as well as stakeholders.


Nice to Have:

  • Experience with cloud security tools and best practices, particularly in Azure environments.
  • Experience with other DLP or data protection tools.


Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of core security concepts, including confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Previous experience and expertise with DLP technologies and tools. Must have experience with Microsoft Purview.
  • Understanding different means of data exfiltration and counteraction measures.
  • Ability to assess risks associated with data loss and propose strategies to mitigate those risks.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data logs, alerts, and incident reports to identify potential data breaches or risks.
  • Knowledge of data protection laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Awareness of privacy regulations and their impact on data handling, especially for sensitive or personal data.
  • Skilled in recognizing patterns and anomalies in data usage that could indicate unauthorized access or data leaks.
  • Ability to clearly report incidents, collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, legal, compliance), and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Must be able to prioritize based on severity and criticality to the business.
  • Self-starter, proactive, and extremely motivated.
