Senior Data Analyst (ML-Focused / Advanced Analytics)

Our client is Canada's largest retailer. They are looking for a Senior Data Analyst with exposure to machine learning products, sitting between a traditional Data Analyst and a Junior Data Scientist. The focus is not on building models, but on evaluating, interpreting, and improving ML-driven outputs in a real-world product environment. The position will not require owning or building ML models.This is a Data Analyst role embedded in an ML product environment-focused on evaluating model performance, interpreting outputs, and helping teams understand whether the algorithm is delivering the right results

This is a highly technical, data-intensive role requiring strong SQL and the ability to translate business objectives into structured data requirements.

Duration: Until December 2026, to start

Location: 3-4 days/week onsite in Brampton

Responsibilities:

• Analyze and validate ML model outputs (e.g., recommendations, predictions)
• Assess whether algorithms are producing the right or useful results
• Investigate issues and identify whether problems stem from data, logic, or modeling
• Provide actionable feedback to technical teams (e.g., “this looks like a modeling issue”)
• Participate in user interaction and UAT, gathering feedback on whether outputs are good/bad
• Bridge the gap between end users, product, and technical teams
• Work with data models and understand how data flows into ML systems

Must Haves:

• 3-8 years of Data Analyst / Data Science experience
• Strong SQL skills (intermediate to advanced; able to quickly understand database structures)
• Able to read and understand ML models conceptually
• Experience working on data products or analytics-driven applications
• Strong data mapping and metric definition experience
• Experience in Agile environments (Jira, Confluence)
• Requires analytical and technical curiosity, not just stakeholder management

Nice to Haves:

• Experience supporting AI/ML or advanced analytics initiatives
