Senior Cloud (Azure) Engineer to help provision and engineer database and storage technologies with one of our major banking clients- 38280

Location Address: Hybrid - Toronto - 2 days/week (subject to change) - Tuesdays & Thursdays

Subject to change: 3-4 days onsite may be required based on business needs

Contract Duration: ASAP to 06/22/2026 - approx. 8 months

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

Business group: Cloud Engineering - team is responsible for provisioning/engineering database and storage technologies for the Bank, work on Azure, GCP to provision the resources

Project: Azure DB team - This role is critical to maintaining and optimizing our Azure based cloud database infrastructure, which underpins several production applications

Candidate Value Proposition:

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain exposure to cloud technologies, and there could be opportunities to work on Terraform and migration.

Typical Day in Role:

• Working with Microsoft Azure technologies, including virtual machines, databases, networks etc.

• Improve operational efficiency by enabling increased automation and external connections for Cloud databases

• Facilitate/Support projects connecting in from external environments

• Improved user feedback for those capabilities.

• Maintain best of class user experience for our platform.

• Maintain a clean support board meeting SLA ensuring users are fully supported for their needs with using our platforms.

• Potential work to migrate from Jenkins pipelines to Terraform

• Tech stack: Microsoft Azure, Java, SQL - mostly back-end role and towards infrastructure side

• Mostly working with provisioning and troubleshooting databases and working with DBAs

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

1) 8+ years of relevant experience as a developer/engineer

2) 3+ years’ Microsoft Azure infrastructure experience

3) 3+ years’ experience working with databases (e.g. SQL) at an advanced level (can code and troubleshoot in back end)

4) 2+ years’ experience programming in Java

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) Experience with GCP

2) Experience with Terraform

3) Experience with Docker

4) Experience with CI/CD

Education:

Bachelor’s in technical field (i.e. computer science, engineering)

Microsoft certified is an asset

Best VS. Average Candidate:

Best has strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure especially databases; and expert skills with SQL

Candidate Review & Selection

1 round in person - Toronto - 1 hour - with HM, and Tech Lead - initial 45 minutes will be going through resume and experience, technical questions related to Microsoft Azure databases; last 15 minutes are for culture fit and if they have questions
