Senior Business Systems Analyst - Wealth Digital / Direct Investing - Tier 1 Banking Client

Duration: 12 Months

Location: Toronto (Hybrid, 2x/week)

Summary

Our Tier 1 banking client is seeking multiple Senior Business Systems Analysts to support digital wealth and direct investing initiatives within a self-directed brokerage / online investing environment.

The successful candidates will work closely with business, technology, product, UX, operations, compliance, and vendor/internal platform teams to define and deliver enhancements across digital investing platforms. This role requires strong experience supporting wealth, brokerage, direct investing, online trading, self-serve investing, or digital client experience platforms, with a strong understanding of how clients place, manage, and view orders/trades through digital channels.

The ideal candidate will have experience with platforms or environments similar to BMO InvestorLine, TD Direct Investing, RBC Direct Investing, CIBC Investor’s Edge, Scotia iTRADE, Questrade, Wealthsimple, or other online brokerage / digital investing platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead business and systems analysis activities for digital wealth / direct investing platform initiatives.
  • Gather, analyze, and document business, functional, non-functional, and technical requirements.
  • Work with product owners, business stakeholders, UX/design, architecture, development, QA, operations, and compliance teams to translate business needs into clear delivery-ready requirements.
  • Support enhancements related to online brokerage, trading workflows, client onboarding, account management, portfolio views, order entry, trade execution, client servicing, and digital investing journeys.
  • Analyze current-state and future-state business processes, data flows, user journeys, system integrations, and operational impacts.
  • Create and maintain documentation such as BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data mapping, interface requirements, use cases, and decision logs.
  • Partner with digital/product teams to improve client experience across web and/or mobile investing channels.
  • Support Agile delivery ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to define test scenarios, validate requirements coverage, support UAT planning, and resolve defects.
  • Identify risks, gaps, dependencies, and downstream impacts across business, technology, operations, regulatory, and client experience workstreams.
  • Support stakeholder walkthroughs, solution validation, implementation readiness, and post-release issue triage.
Must Haves:
  • 7+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, or similar role within enterprise technology delivery.
  • Strong experience within wealth management, direct investing, brokerage, capital markets, digital banking, or investment platforms.
  • Hands-on experience supporting digital investing / self-directed brokerage platforms, including one or more of the following:
  • Online trading / order placement
  • Order status and trade execution workflows
  • Equities, ETFs, mutual funds, fixed income, options, or other investment products
  • Account opening / onboarding for investing clients
  • Portfolio holdings, balances, positions, and transaction history
  • Client-facing web or mobile investing experiences
  • Advisor/client or self-serve wealth journeys
  • Experience with platforms similar to InvestorLine, Direct Investing, iTRADE, Investor’s Edge, Questrade, Wealthsimple, or other online brokerage platforms.
  • Strong understanding of how digital brokerage clients interact with investing platforms, including research, order entry, trade confirmation, account servicing, and post-trade experience.
  • Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, data/interface requirements, and business/system documentation.
  • Strong ability to work with both business and technical stakeholders and translate requirements into clear delivery outcomes.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments with Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to operate independently in a complex banking environment with multiple delivery teams and competing priorities.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Prior experience with a Canadian Tier 1 bank or regulated financial institution.
  • Knowledge of IIROC/CIRO, KYC, suitability, compliance, risk, privacy, accessibility, or digital banking regulatory considerations.
  • Experience supporting mobile investing apps, responsive web platforms, or digital transformation programs.
  • Experience with API integrations, data mapping, vendor platforms, or complex system-to-system workflows.
  • Understanding of trade lifecycle, market data, account types, registered/non-registered plans, margin accounts, and investment product operations.
