We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Azure Migration Lead to drive large-scale cloud migration initiatives involving databases (MongoDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and Kubernetes clusters to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). The ideal candidate should possess hands-on expertise in cloud-native architecture, migration tooling, and Azure platform services, with strong leadership in facilitating technical workshops, guiding decision-making, and driving execution across multi-disciplinary teams.

Work mode - 100% remote

Duration - 11 months, full time with a possibility of extension

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end Azure migration lifecycle, including discovery, assessment, design, planning, execution, validation, and cutover.
• Drive and facilitate migration workshops with stakeholders to gather requirements, define scope, agree on success criteria, and drive technical decision-making.
• Design and implement scalable Azure architectures for MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL migrations, leveraging services like Azure Database for PostgreSQL Flexible Server, Cosmos DB for MongoDB API, and Azure Database for MySQL.
• Lead Kubernetes migration efforts from on-premises or other platforms to AKS, including migration of workloads, persistent volumes, ingress controllers, service meshes, and registry integrations.
• Create and present architectural diagrams, runbooks, and cutover plans to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Utilize tools like Azure Migrate, Database Migration Service (DMS), Velero, Kasten, and Terraform to execute migrations reliably and repeatably.
• Collaborate with DevOps, Network, Security, and Application teams to ensure cloud environments are secure, resilient, and cost-optimized post-migration.
• Provide hands-on support during POCs, pilot migrations, and production deployment phases.
• Guide and mentor engineering teams through complex migration challenges and ensure adherence to best practices.

Must Haves

• Proven experience in leading and delivering Azure migration projects, especially for the following workloads:
• MongoDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL - experience in migration and architecture (not DBA-focused).
• Kubernetes clusters to AKS - including manifests, Helm, persistent storage, ingress, secrets, and observability tools.
• Strong expertise in Azure IaaS/PaaS services, resource governance, networking, IAM, monitoring, and security.
• Experience running migration and architecture workshops, capturing technical/functional requirements, and translating them into actionable designs.
• Familiarity with tools and platforms such as:
• Azure Migrate, Azure DMS, Velero, Kasten, Terraform, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps.
• Understanding of cloud-native CI/CD workflows, infrastructure as code, and container lifecycle management.
• Excellent documentation and presentation skills with the ability to clearly communicate architectural decisions and trade-offs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate
• Experience with Azure Landing Zone, CAF (Cloud Adoption Framework), or Well-Architected Framework
• Background in hybrid or multi-cloud migrations is a plus
