Senior Application Performance Engineer/Dynatrace SME to monitor application health and troubleshoot issues - 39028
Location Address: Hybrid - 44 King - 3 days/week onsite (days will vary depending on team)
Subject to change: 3-4 days onsite may be required based on business needs
Contract Duration: 6 months (Must convert to FTE)
Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week
Story Behind the Need
Business group: Global Banking and Markets Engineering (GBME) is the fast-moving, award-winning technology engine that powers bank’s Corporate, Investment Banking and Capital Markets businesses.
Project: GBME is searching for an Application Performance Engineer (Dynatrace) who is a continuous learner and is eager to boost capabilities of capital markets products and analytics platforms.
Typical Day in Role:
In partnership with peer engineers, business partners, and the various GBME teams, you will:
• Utilize Dynatrace to monitor application health and troubleshoot issues.
• Implement performance monitoring strategies for GBM applications.
• Conduct performance testing (load, stress, endurance) and analyzing results to identify bottlenecks
• Collaborate with development teams to optimize code, queries, and configurations for better performance.
• Provide recommendations for capacity planning and scalability improvements.
• Develop dashboards and reports to communicate performance metrics to stakeholders.
• Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for performance-related issues.
• Stay current with industry best practices and emerging technologies in application performance engineering.
Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:
1) 10+ years of experience in application performance engineering or related role.
2) 7+ years’ experience with Dynatrace
3) 5+ Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner).
4) 5+ Experience with distributed systems, microservices, and cloud environments.
5) 5+ Experience with scripting languages (Python, Shell) and automation frameworks.
Nice-To-Have Skills:
• Experience with some automated deployment.
• Understanding of observability principles
• Capital Markets product knowledge - margins, derivatives, - as working on capital markets applications, any knowledge will be helpful
• Cloud, Kubernetes experience
• Experience monitoring batch
• Experience working with real-time, high availability and low latency systems
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.

Skilled in creating dashboards, defining KPIs and SLAs, and configuring plugins.
Capable of monitoring third-party integrations within Dynatrace and enabling other SREs to leverage these capabilities effectively.
