Junior/Intermediate Finance Analyst – Cybersecurity & IT Programs to support client in Public Sector

Location: Hamilton, ON

Duration: 3 month contract with possibility of extension.

Hybrid Work Model:

Alternate weekly between:

• 2 days in office (Tue & Wed)
• 3 days in office (Tue, Wed & Thu)

35 hours/week

Purpose: Support financial planning, budgeting, and reporting for cybersecurity and infrastructure initiatives. This role assists with day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate tracking of spend, vendor invoices, and project costs.

• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for IT & cybersecurity programs
• Track and reconcile purchase orders (POs), invoices, and accruals
• Monitor OpEx vs CapEx and project burn rates
• Prepare basic financial reports and dashboards for leadership
• Support vendor spend tracking, contract renewals, and licensing costs
• Help with monthly/quarterly reconciliations and audit preparation
• Collaborate with IT, procurement, and corporate finance teams
• Contribute to process improvements and automation initiatives

• 1-3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or FP&A
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, basic modeling)
• Understanding of budgeting and expense tracking
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field

• Exposure to IT or cybersecurity financial processes
• Familiarity with vendor contracts and procurement workflows
• Experience with Power BI or similar reporting tools
• Knowledge of public sector finance or government budgeting cycles
