Intermediate QA Engineer (ISTQB/QA Certified) to perform Functional, UI, Content, Data and Cross Browser Testing with one of our major banking clients- 39089/39707

Location Address: Hybrid - Toronto - 3 days/week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Subject to change: 3-4 days onsite may be required based on business needs

Contract Duration: 6 months (Possibility of extension & conversion to FTE)

Schedule Hours: 9am-5pm Monday-Friday; standard 37.5 hrs/week

Story Behind the Need

Business group: CBE Commerce and Communication - team is in commerce domain, managing applications supporting Scotiabank.com; team of 11

Project: Support marketing campaign testing - team is performing in a production environment; working on marketing platform where all the campaigns/offers sit for targeted customers - functional, UI, content and data and cross browser mobile regression and sanity testing

Typical Day in Role:

• Perform various types of testing - Functional testing, UI testing, Content testing, data testing, Cross browser and Cross device testing across desktop, mobile device and tablets, Sanity testing and Regression testing.

• Complete the testing cycles: understand the requirements, execute the test cases/ regression suits, close the defects and deliver multiple projects based on priority.

• Work closely with the team to determine, prioritize and resolve the defects in a timely manner.

• Prepare the defects status and trouble shoot with the corresponding team or stakeholders.

• Provide regular status to the internal team and call out the risk and issues to release the project on time.

• Ensure adherence to banking regulations, security standards, and data privacy laws.

• 50/50 manual and automation

• Tools: PNG testing tools, AI tools

Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:

1) 5+ years of Quality Assurance experience with proficiency of testing different websites, mobile web, and mobile applications

2) 5+ years Automation testing experience with Playwright, Java and JavaScript (all 3 are needed)

3) Experience with most of these types of testing - Functional testing, UI testing, Content testing, data testing, Cross browser and Cross device testing across desktop, mobile device and tablets, Sanity testing and Regression testing.

4) 3+ years’ experience with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), accessibility testing and tools.

5) Experience with Test case management and defect Management tools (preference for JIRA)

Nice-To-Have Skills:

1) Test Automation experience with frameworks, and utilities (e.g. Selenium WebDriver or WebDriverIO)

2) Experience and knowledge with banking/insurance/investment products, applications

3) Experience in different testing environments, QA process and tools (UAT, IST, prod)

4) Experience with API testing

Education:

Bachelor’s technical field

ISTQB/QA certifications are required

Best VS. Average Candidate:

Strong QA testing experience in both web and mobile

ISTQB certification
