Int. Project Manager to support process optimization and automation initiatives within our Commercial Banking client
Duration: 12 Months
Location: Toronto (2-3 Days/Week Hybrid)
We are seeking an Intermediate Project Manager to support process optimization and automation initiatives for our Commercial Banking ciient. This role will focus on improving operational efficiency across customer experience, fraud prevention, billing, sales enablement, and client services by mapping current-state workflows, identifying redundancies, and driving the design and delivery of future-state solutions.
The ideal candidate brings strong project delivery discipline, banking or financial services experience, and a proven ability to lead process improvement initiatives that free up capacity for frontline sales teams. You are proactive, organized, and able to drive accountability across busy stakeholder groups.
Project Delivery & Leadership
- Lead end-to-end delivery of process optimization and automation projects within Commercial Banking.
- Drive project planning, execution, timeline management, risk mitigation, and status reporting.
- Operate autonomously-proactively resolving issues and escalating only when required.
- Facilitate effective communication across business, technology, and vendor partners.
Process Improvement & Optimization
- Conduct detailed current-state process mapping sessions with business stakeholders.
- Define future-state workflows focused on removing redundancies and reducing manual steps.
- Identify automation opportunities to free up bandwidth for sales and client-facing teams.
- Develop clear documentation, training materials, and handoff packages for business teams.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with business leads within customer experience, fraud, billing, sales enablement, and client services.
- Elicit information and requirements from busy stakeholders by building rapport and leading structured conversations.
- Ensure alignment between business needs, technical considerations, and project outcomes.
- Support business partners in articulating accurate, complete requirements.
Technical & Analytical
- Use Visio (or equivalent tools) to map processes and illustrate workflow changes.
- Understand high-level data flows within applications and systems (no deep technical build needed).
- Ensure that optimized processes are accurately translated into system or automation requirements.
Governance & Documentation
- Maintain RAID logs, project plans, and other core PM artifacts.
- Produce clear, structured documentation and training literature for business adoption.
- Ensure all deliverables meet internal governance, compliance, and audit requirements.
Must Haves:
- 4-7+ years of Project Management experience.
- Experience in banking, financial services, or a regulated enterprise environment.
- Hands-on experience with process mapping, workflow optimization, and automation initiatives.
- Proficiency with Visio or similar tools (Lucidchart, Blueworks, etc.).
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills-able to extract information from busy SMEs.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and drive accountability across teams.
- Strong time management, communication, and organization skills.
Nice to Have
- PMP certification.
- Agile/Scrum certification or relevant practical experience.
- Experience supporting sales enablement, customer experience, or client services teams.
- Understanding of Commercial Banking processes and operations.
- Familiarity with digital transformation or automation tooling (RPA, workflow engines, etc.).
