Business Systems Analyst (BSA) – Trade Surveillance / Data Integration

We are seeking a highly capable Business Systems Analyst (BSA) to support the onboarding of a new Direct Investing business line and mutual fund platform into an existing enterprise surveillance ecosystem within a leading Canadian financial institution.

This role sits at the intersection of data, compliance, and wealth management, requiring strong analytical capability, domain knowledge, and stakeholder leadership.

• End-to-End Ownership
• Lead the full lifecycle of requirements from intake through implementation, validation, and handoff
• Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, data teams, and technology teams
• Drive clarity, alignment, and decision-making across multiple stakeholder groups
• Data Integration & Analysis
• Analyze and onboard new data sources from external vendors/platforms into the Compliance Data Fabric
• Support data ingestion and transformation into downstream systems including KX
• Perform data mapping, lineage analysis, and gap assessments across source and target systems
• Ensure data quality, completeness, and suitability for surveillance use cases
• Surveillance Scenario Enablement
• Assess impact of new datasets on existing trade surveillance scenarios
• Modify existing scenarios and remap scenarios to align with new data structures
• Partner with Compliance and Surveillance teams to ensure scenarios meet regulatory and business requirements
• Documentation & Governance
• Produce high-quality business and functional requirements documentation (BRDs, FRDs, data mapping specs)
• Maintain clear traceability between requirements, data elements, and surveillance logic
• Ensure audit-ready documentation aligned with compliance standards
• Stakeholder Management
• Navigate complex stakeholder environments with competing priorities
• Facilitate workshops, resolve ambiguity, and drive consensus
• Proactively identify risks, dependencies, and decision points

• Core BSA Capabilities
• 5+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst in financial services
• Strong experience working with both data-intensive and functional/business requirements
• Proven ability to own deliverables end-to-end in complex environments
• Data & Technical Skills
• Strong data analysis and mapping experience (source-to-target, lineage, transformation logic)
• Experience working with data platforms, data fabrics, or large-scale ingestion pipelines
• Familiarity with trade/order lifecycle data and market data structures
• Domain Expertise
• Strong knowledge of Wealth Management (WM) products (e.g., direct investing, mutual funds)
• Exposure to trading environments is highly desirable
• Understanding of trade surveillance concepts and regulatory compliance frameworks
• Tools & Platforms (Nice to Have)
• Experience with KX or similar time-series/data analytics platforms
• SQL, data profiling tools, and visualization/reporting tools

• Strong ownership mindset with the ability to drive initiatives independently
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Comfortable working in ambiguous and evolving environments
• Skilled at managing challenging stakeholder dynamics and driving decisions
