The AVP of Data Management leads the strategy and execution of the firm’s enterprise data infrastructure and engineering capabilities. This role defines and oversees the firm’s approach to database operations, data integration, ETL development, and production support. Reporting to the VP of Data & Analytics, the AVP sets the direction for building a scalable, secure, and high-performing data environment that enables business and analytics functions. This leader ensures the reliability, efficiency, and ongoing improvement of the firm's data platforms in alignment with enterprise priorities.


Key Accountabilities:

· Define and lead the data management and engineering strategy to support enterprise data needs.

· Oversee database management including setup, tuning, patching, upgrades, and backups.

· Lead the development, deployment, and support of ETL pipelines and data integration solutions.

· Ensure platform performance, scalability, and reliability across cloud and on-premise environments.

· Operate and support daily data processes including job monitoring, error handling, and incident resolution.

· Manage the development and optimization of SQL code to support production and reporting systems.

· Drive automation of recurring processes and operational efficiencies in data workflows.

· Collaborate with analytics and governance teams to ensure accurate, timely, and trusted data availability.

· Maintain metadata, job documentation, and system inventories across data assets.

Manage vendor platforms and tools used within the data ecosystem, ensuring alignment with technical and business requirements.


Tech Skills:

· Expertise in enterprise databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, or Snowflake)

· Proficiency in SQL development, performance tuning, and stored procedure management

· Hands-on experience with ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, dbt, or equivalent)

· Experience building and maintaining data pipelines (batch and real-time)

· Familiarity with job scheduling, monitoring, and alerting tools (e.g., Airflow, Control-M)

· Understanding of CI/CD practices, version control (e.g., Git), and deployment pipelines

· Knowledge of data quality frameworks and validation techniques

· Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP

Experience integrating data from CRM, custodial, and portfolio systems (preferred)


Experience:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in data engineering, database management, or data platform operations
  • At least 3 years in a team leadership or management role
  • Experience working in or supporting financial services or wealth management is preferred
  • Strong documentation, troubleshooting, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a regulated, security-conscious data environment
