Story Behind the Need
Business Group: GTEP - Service Support
Project: Application Portfolio Management (APM)
The team is undergoing a major capability transformation, migrating from an application‑centric portfolio model to a full Enterprise Architecture (EA) framework within ServiceNow. The organization requires an in‑house architect to guide the evolution from the current APM module to the new EA module, ensuring long‑term architectural integrity, governance, and alignment with enterprise standards. Hiring manager is the technical product owner for the APM module within ServiceNow’s new Enterprise Architecture (EA) suite.
This is not a simple lift‑and‑shift. It is a capability evolution involving workflow modernization, assessment redesign, EA alignment, and preparing the foundation for future integration with IRM (Integrated Risk Management). The architect will evaluate vendor decisions, safeguard APM as the system of record, and ensure that once the vendor exits, internal teams can sustain and extend the EA roadmap.
Typical Day in Role
• Lead the migration of application portfolio data and workflows to the EA module, ensuring alignment with capability‑based planning.
• Review and redesign assessment structures (currently in standard format) to ensure future compatibility with IRM’s SMART Assessment Engine.
• Simplify and streamline workflows and assessment logic for improved user experience and governance.
• Provide architectural oversight on portfolio application management across both legacy and transformed environments.
• Utilize ServiceNow EA components including TRM (Technical Reference Model) and Business Services, already activated in the new platform.
• Work with internal architects to assess current state, preserve key artifacts, and guide future direction.
• Collaborate closely with the external ServiceNow vendor performing the bulk of the migration.
• Ensure that APM remains the authoritative system of record and that architectural governance standards are upheld.
• Support digital interface development and ensure architectural alignment across teams.
Candidate Value Proposition
• Opportunity to contribute to a high‑visibility enterprise modernization initiative within a top Canadian bank.
• Hands‑on work with the new ServiceNow EA module, in partnership with an external ServiceNow implementation vendor.
• As a future FTE, the candidate will gain full access to ServiceNow University trainings and certification paths, offering substantial upskilling and career development.
• Work with a collaborative, architecture‑driven team focused on modernization, capability building, and reducing application sprawl.
