Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)
Effective Date: January 5, 2026 until not later than June 30, 2026

Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of, and successful experience with, the application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
- knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- post-secondary coursework and successful experience in teaching students with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
- extensive academic training and post graduate coursework in the following areas: students with diverse needs; strategies for adapting and modifying curriculum
- demonstrated ability to build strong connections and relationships with students, staff, and parents
- demonstrated willingness to participate as an integral member of the School Based Team
- demonstrated success at working with and coordinating SEL programs with the Student Services team
- demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of young adolescent development and enthusiasm for working and fostering a positive relationship with students with multiple challenges
- knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as outlined in the Manual of Policies, Procedures and Guidelines for Special Education Services
- demonstrated ability to use co-regulated strategies that enable students to self-regulate behaviors
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and demonstrated ability to implement trauma-informed strategies
- demonstrated experience with mental health literacy and how it applies to SEL
- Training in EASE (Everyday Anxiety Strategies for Educators)
- demonstrated ability and willingness to effectively use classroom, school, district, and provincial level assessments to differentiate instruction and learning (formative and summative)
- demonstrated experience and ability in being able to carry out a variety of assessments, including classroom observation, curriculum-based assessment and diagnostic teaching methods, administration and interpretation of Level B Assessments including the WIAT and PPVT and FBA assessments
- knowledge of and demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, and evaluation of competency-based IEPs in consultation with the classroom teacher(s), parent(s), student, and district personnel
- proven ability in using UDL to meet the diverse individual needs of students
- demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students who experience difficulties with learning and require additional support through student services
- working knowledge of and willingness to support Positive Behavior Support initiatives both in the classroom and in the larger school community
- demonstrated excellence in the area of interpersonal skills, communication, and collaboration
- demonstrated ability in teaching students how to improve their reading and writing skills in various curricular areas using a variety of strategies and resources
- demonstrated commitment to and engagement in lifelong professional and personal learning
