Salary Range: $59,711 to $109,520 (range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance to the collective agreement)

The Indigenous Department Halq'eméylem Teacher-will work directly with teachers and students throughout the school district. The successful candidate will work closely with other members of Learning Services.
Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:
- a valid BC Teaching certificate with extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in all areas of this teaching assignment
- knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, curriculum and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- Halq'eme'ylem Language Fluency Teaching Certificate or adequate training and experience with Halq'eme'ylem Language instruction
- demonstrated ability and commitment to language learning experiences that incorporates language and cultural experiences as per the First Peoples Principles of Learning and culture-based education, pedagogy and instructional practices
- knowledge of language learning/teaching pedagogy, assessment and reporting
- demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Stó:lō cultural practices, education, history and protocols
- a minimum of 5 years teaching experience at the middle and secondary level
- demonstrated experience of collaboration with Indigenous community partners/networks as per Halq'eme'ylem language learning
- demonstrated evidence of strong interpersonal skills with the ability to be innovative and creative to support student learning
- demonstrated classroom management and organizational skills
- preference may be given to candidates of Indigenous descent
- valid BC driver's license
