We are seeking a Document Control Advisor to support our growing team in Burnaby, BC. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional who can shape enterprise-level document governance strategies, influence executive stakeholders, and elevate information management practices across major capital programs.

Role & ResponsibilitiesIn this role, you will:

Advise on and lead the development of program-level document control and information governance strategies to support major capital project delivery.

Establish standards and advise leadership on information governance frameworks, document lifecycle management, metadata structures, retention policies, and permissions protocols.

Provide strategic recommendations on document management systems, platforms, and processes that strengthen enterprise-wide information and records management practices.

Act as a senior advisor to executive leadership, project teams, and governance organizations, ensuring document control practices align with broader capital program governance frameworks.

Guide, mentor, and influence project teams and stakeholders through training, coaching, and knowledge transfer to drive adoption of best-in-class document governance practices.

Advise on compliance requirements, audit readiness, and regulatory alignment, ensuring full traceability, accountability, and version control across major programs.

Assess current-state document control practices and develop roadmaps to improve governance maturity, efficiency, and risk management.

Serve as a trusted partner and subject matter expert in navigating complex information management and governance challenges.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support consistency, transparency, and quality across project delivery organizations.
To succeed in this role, you bring:

Minimum 12-15 years of progressive experience in Document Control, Records Management, Information Governance, or Governance Advisory roles within large capital project environments.

Demonstrated experience advising executive leadership and developing governance strategies, procedures, and systems at a corporate, program, or enterprise level.

Strong knowledge of information governance principles, document lifecycle management, records retention, compliance requirements, and audit readiness practices.

Experience with enterprise Document Management Systems (DMS) such as Aconex, SharePoint, OpenText, or similar platforms, including optimization and governance implementation.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems and governance frameworks commonly used within infrastructure, utilities, transportation, or public-sector environments.

Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, facilitate change, and drive adoption of governance best practices across large organizations.

Excellent communication, leadership, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

Experience supporting major infrastructure, utilities, transportation, energy, or public-sector capital programs is highly desirable.
This position is based in Burnaby, BC, and is not a hybrid position.
