Join an innovative and consultative Sales Organization Team that has their sights set on helping our clients unlock the project development and execution opportunities across their capital project programs. The status quo need not apply, the position requires a pragmatic, customer oriented and solution seeking mindset that can work with our client’s project planning and delivery organizations, internal team members and partners to produce predictable and successful project results.
The Business Development Director - Western Region is responsible for driving PTAG’s growth across Western Canada and the U.S. West by identifying, pursuing, and securing new consulting, advisory, and project delivery opportunities. Working within PTAG’s Hybrid Organizational Model and in alignment with the Partner - Business Development, this role expands PTAG’s presence across the Energy & Resources, Power & Utilities, Infrastructure, Industrial, and emerging sectors.
This strategic, client-facing role blends business development leadership, account strategy, opportunity shaping, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration. The Director works closely with PTAG’s Regional Partners, Practice Leads, Marketing, Consulting Services, Operations, and Resourcing teams to deliver integrated value propositions that solve clients’ capital project planning and execution challenges.
Operating from PTAG’s Calgary office the Director represents PTAG at industry forums, professional associations, and client engagements, positioning the firm as a trusted partner in project advisory, program delivery, managed services, and PMIS/digital transformation solutions.
The Director is accountable for regional revenue growth, gross margin performance, sales forecasting accuracy, opportunity qualification, and the execution of pursuit strategies aligned with PTAG’s quality management, brand standards, sales and delivery governance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Territory Leadership & Growth Strategy
- Develop and execute a Territory Plan for Western Canada and the U.S. West, detailing target markets, key clients, revenue targets, and growth strategies.
- Drive year-over-year growth of PTAG’s advisory, managed services, secondment, and PMIS/digital transformation offerings.
- Maintain accurate sales forecasts, pipeline visibility, and CRM records consistent with PTAG’s sales governance standards.
- Assess competitive dynamics and develop adaptive strategies to maximize win rates and expand PTAG’s footprint.
- Research, validate, and pursue new opportunities aligned with PTAG’s service lines and growth priorities.
- Lead all phases of the sales cycle: market scanning, lead generation, prospecting, qualification, scoping, proposal development, pricing, and negotiation.
- Shape opportunities early by engaging client decision-makers and influencers to understand constraints, challenges, and value levers.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary pursuit teams to ensure well-designed, compliant, and compelling proposals.
- Working in alignment with Account Management colleagues to plan, coordinate and delivery territory and account plans.
- Build and maintain senior-level relationships with Owner Operators, Utilities, EPCs, OEMs, industrial manufacturers, and institutional investors (e.g., pension funds).
- Facilitate executive-level engagements between PTAG leaders and key client stakeholders.
- Serve as commercial liaison and relationship sponsor post-award, ensuring alignment between client expectations and PTAG delivery teams.
- Promote client satisfaction through proactive communication, issue resolution, and ongoing value creation.
- Work with Regional Partners, Practice Leads (PMO, AWP/APD, Project Controls, Supply Chain, PMIS, Construction), and Operations to develop integrated solutions.
- Partner with Marketing to ensure brand-aligned communications, campaigns, and thought leadership activities in the region.
- Collaborate with Resourcing and Consultant Services to match client needs with PTAG’s internal and external talent pools.
- Support solution design workshops, scoping sessions, project start-up coordination, and client onboarding as required.
- Working with Pursuit & Proposal Management to ensure quality and target messaging is delivered for PTAG responses to Proposals.
- Represent PTAG at industry events, conferences, panels, and forums (CII, COAA, AACE, PMI, ECC, CURT, etc.).
- Promote PTAG’s brand by showcasing our thought leadership, project delivery expertise, and advanced project delivery capabilities.
- Create opportunities to position PTAG as a leader in capital project advisory, PMO design, project controls, AWP/APD, and digital project delivery.
Drive growth across the following PTAG offerings:
- Project Advisory & Consulting: PMO establishment, process transformation, front-end planning, benchmarking, estimating reviews, value-improvement workshops, cold-eye reviews.
- Owner Representative Services: PMO, PMC, OE, IPT delivery models.
- Managed Services: Project Management, Construction Management, Project Controls, Quality, SCM, and multi-disciplinary integrated program delivery.
- Secondment Services: Provision of technical professionals supporting client projects and programs.
- Project Management Systems: PMIS implementation, digital transformations, evaluation, procurement, integration, and hosted services.
- Maintain Sales Systems, Input Reports, and Document Management through SharePoint Records with accuracy and timeliness.
- Contribute to improvements in PTAG’s sales processes, pursuit governance, and business development playbook.
- Identify opportunities to improve internal sales operations, tools, reporting, and forecasting accuracy.
- Evolve sales and commercial understanding across all levels of the business where and as required.
- Support improvement and training initiatives across the Sales and Enterprise Organization.
Key Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Engineering, Business, Economics, Marketing, or related discipline; MBA or P.Eng preferred.
- Proven track record of winning consulting and advisory work, including T&M and Lump Sum contracts, as well as MSAs with major industrial and infrastructure clients.
- Strong experience in complex pursuits involving multidisciplinary solution teams.
- Professional selling and consultative selling training or certifications preferred.
- Strong capability in strategy facilitation, solution mapping, and opportunity shaping.
- Highly developed communication, presentation, and proposal writing skills.
- Ability to lead a Territory Plan with structured targets, financial goals, and key account strategies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, CRM tools, and sales reporting systems.
- Driven, self-starting, and entrepreneurial personality aligned with a remote and fast-paced sales environment.
- Willingness to travel 40% -60% within Western Canada and the U.S. West.
- Achievement of annual revenue and gross margin targets for Western Region.
- Forecast accuracy (pipeline, bookings, weighted values) within acceptable variance thresholds.
- Number and quality of new client relationships and MSAs established.
- Win rate on strategic pursuits and competitive proposals.
- Expansion of PTAG’s market presence and brand visibility within its Industry sectors.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration with PTAG Practices Leaders, Regional Executives, and corporate functions.
- High levels of client satisfaction and repeat business.
- Compliance with PTAG’s ISO 9001:2015 QMS and pursuit governance processes.
