Job Description:
Parsons is seeking an Electrical Engineer in training to join the civil infrastructure group to be part of a team working on projects of Roadways, Bridges, Transitways, Municipal and/or County arterial roads, side streets, multi-use pathways, parking facilities etc.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Be part of the electrical project team and attend project meetings
- Perform lighting calculations (AGI software knowledge desired but not mandatory, On job training shall be provided)
- Experience in Roadway lighting design and Traffic Signal design, including phasing and signal timing plans in the province of Ontario, is desired but not mandatory
- Design Traffic Signal Systems to the Ontario Traffic Manual. (Traffic Signal system design is desired but not mandatory. On-the-job training shall be provided.
- Generate one-line diagrams, traffic signal wiring diagrams, roadway lighting wiring diagrams, and electrical details
- Perform Voltage Drop Calculations, short circuit calculations, and arc flash analysis calculations. (Past knowledge of how to perform these calculations is desired but not mandatory. On-the-job training shall be provided.
- Write and edit project construction specifications.
- Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, perform site observations etc.
- Coordinate on-site with the electrical contractor and perform field inspections and provide professional field support as necessary during construction phases.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering and preferably 1-2 year of related work experience.
- Proficient in the utilization of current electrical engineering theories and practices.
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
- Potential to perform in an engineering team, excellent written and oral communications skills, and familiarity of industry practices and regulations are desired.
- Strong background in AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is desired but not required.
