The Opportunity

Based out of our Toronto office, you will play a meaningful role as part of our dynamic and successful fund investing team. As an Associate - Teachers' Venture Growth (TVG) Fund Investing, you will help provide coverage of external manager relationships in across North America, Europe, and Asia, working closely with the Head of TVG Funds and colleagues across the team to support the execution of TVG’s Funds strategy and other key strategic initiatives.

This role will involve building strong ties and engagement across TVG’s existing in-region fund partners, helping identify and evaluate prospective relationships, and working to drive direct investment opportunities (co-invest / follow-ons), knowledge sharing and insights for the broader TVG team. You will play a lead role in all aspects of the execution of commitments (conducting diligence, preparing investment memorandums & supporting analysis, generating investment recommendations, and reviewing legal documentation) and post-investment management.

Who you’ll work with

In your new role, you will report to the Head of TVG Funds who is based in Toronto. You will also work closely with other members of the TVG Funds team globally and collaboratively with TVG’s regional direct investment teams, as well as with other investment teams across OTPP (Private Capital - Global Funds, Total Fund Management, Strategy & Risk) more broadly, to drive sector and investment stage specialization and regional coordination.

What you'll do

  • Support the evaluation of new and follow-on fund investment opportunities across venture, venture-growth, and growth equity strategies

  • Conduct manager research and maintain market maps to support sourcing and portfolio construction

  • Assist in due diligence processes, including GP analysis, track record assessment, and portfolio analytics

  • Prepare investment committee materials, including financial analysis, benchmarking, and supporting recommendations

  • Support underwriting, structuring, and documentation of fund commitments, including review of legal materials

  • Contribute to ongoing portfolio monitoring, including performance tracking, valuation support, and risk assessment

  • Develop analytics and insights across the funds portfolio, including exposure analysis and strategic value (e.g., co-investment opportunities and sector trends)

  • Participate in GP interactions, including meetings, AGMs, and LPAC preparation

  • Build and maintain relationships with GPs, LPs, and broader ecosystem participants

  • Partner with TVG Direct teams to support information sharing, sector insights, and evaluation of potential co-investment opportunities

  • Support internal processes, reporting, and ad hoc analyses as required

  • Work cross-functionally with other teams to ensure continued alignment with OTPP’s mission, vision and values. This includes supporting and sharing knowledge with other areas of Investments and responding to ad hoc requests from other departments

What you'll need

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, venture capital, growth equity, fund investing, consulting, or related fields

  • Strong interest in venture, growth equity, and fund investing, with a curiosity for technology-driven sectors

  • Solid analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex datasets

  • Understanding of fund investment, portfolio construction, or private markets is an asset

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; MBA, CFA, or other advanced degree is an asset

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment

  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present insights clearly

  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across teams and geographies

  • Entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and intellectually curious

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

  • Experience or interest in leveraging data, automation, or AI tools to improve investment processes, with the ability to build or support internal tooling and analytics capabilities

  • Willingness to travel as required
