About the Opportunity

The Division of Plastic Surgery in the Department of Surgery at Dalhousie University and Nova Scotia Health (NSH) is seeking to hire a full time Plastic Surgeon. This position will have its clinical base at the Dartmouth General Hospital (DGH), in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Dartmouth is within the Halifax Regional Municipality and is a short drive or ferry ride from Halifax.

While this position is based at the DGH, the successful candidate will be part of the Central Zone Division of Plastic Surgery and will join a call group of 10 plastic surgeons. They will also have an academic role within the Dalhousie University plastic surgery residency training program.

Remuneration is through the Department of Surgery Alternative Funding plan. Anticipated start date is on or after July 1, 2024.

Responsibilities

This position is ideal for a candidate who wishes to have a primarily outpatient surgery practice in a community hospital setting. Available resources include 1 main OR day per week and ample ambulatory clinic/minor procedures time. They will participate in general Plastic Surgery call, therefore must be proficient in digit reimplantation, hand surgery, basic maxillofacial trauma surgery, and other common acute presentations.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and have additional fellowship training. The candidate must be eligible for licensure in Nova Scotia.
