Context

Nova Scotia Health is seeking expressions of interest for the role of Department Head (DH) for Psychiatry in the Western Zone.

Reporting to the Zone Medical Executive Director, and working within a co-leadership model with an Administrative Co-lead, the Zone Medical Department Head provides strategic and operational planning and service leadership in collaboration with relevant administrative Department leaders.

The DH for Psychiatry is responsible for the operations of the Psychiatry Medical staff in the Zone, provides strategic and operational planning and service leadership in collaboration with relevant administrative Department leaders, and provides leadership to the Psychiatry site leads as well as performance management and physician resource planning for members of the department.

The DH works with Psychiatry Site Leads to develop a schedule of physicians to ensure coverage of Psychiatry Departments and appropriate medical administration throughout the zone.

Eligibility

MD licensed in Nova Scotia and privileged with Nova Scotia Health
Evidence of past and ongoing leadership training
