Job Responsibilities:

The Manufacturing Engineering Student at Co-Ex-Tec will gain hands-on experience and practical knowledge in a dynamic automotive parts manufacturing environment. This internship or co-op position is designed to provide students with exposure to various aspects of manufacturing engineering, including process optimization, quality control, and project management. The role involves working closely with experienced engineers and technicians to support ongoing production and improvement initiatives.

**Please note this is a 1 year co-op term

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Process capability for all new programs.
  • Design/Implement changes to work cell layouts using AutoCAD for all departments.
  • Work with all Manufacturing engineers and Department Process Technicians in resolving any problems regarding manufacturing process capability, using sound Engineering principles and SPC techniques.
  • Conduct Program, Routing, and BOM Audits to ensure product is within the quoted standard.
  • Perform work cell assessments with focus on process flow, standardization, ergonomics and 5S. Document the current state and make improvements by adding detailed work instructions, including audio / video demonstration
  • Perform, direct, and carry out any and all other assignments from time to time as management directs.
  • Development and maintaining Operator Instructions, Rework, Change-over procedure and instruction.
  • Assist in the development and launch of all new programs as required.
  • Optimize all parameters to attain maximum running efficiencies for each job.
  • Develop standardized operating instructions for all work centres.
  • Co-ordinate program launch activities between engineering, tool-room, purchasing, quality and production departments.
  • Be responsible for smooth production launches including prompt and efficient implementation of process improvements.
  • Provide “hands on” troubleshooting of new equipment and be capable of working with all disciplines to promote team participation.
  • Ensure and promote all safety standards, safe operating procedures, good housekeeping practices, all safety issues conforming to the “Occupational Health and Safety Act” and the observance of protective equipment requirements at all times.
  • Ensure compliance and enforcement of Customer Specific Requirements, QMS (IATF16949), Health and Safety (ISO 45001), EMS (ISO14001), and security (PIP) requirements.
  • Performs other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering student at an accredited College or University
  • Manufacturing experience, preferred
  • Knowledge of Lean principles, 5S, process flow required
  • Familiarity with FMEA, APQP, DOE
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to effectively use MS Office Programs to edit or create detailed work instructions
  • Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
  • AutoCAD experience, computer literacy required

Compensation: $20-23/hour
