About The Opportunity
This position offers the chance to work closely with experienced lawyers in a high-volume real estate practice. The successful candidate will take ownership of files and play a key role in ensuring transactions are completed accurately and efficiently. About The Position
Reporting to the Real Estate Lawyers, the Paralegal will manage residential purchase, sale, and mortgage files from open to close. Responsibilities include preparing and registering Land Title documents, conducting due diligence searches, coordinating with financial institutions and legal representatives, and preparing reporting letters and trust documentation.
The role also involves preparing and registering LOTR declarations with the Land Owner Transparency Registry, ordering mortgage payout statements, processing deposits and payouts, and assisting with non-real estate land title filings such as liens and other charges.
The Requirements
Must Haves:
- Paralegal Diploma (or Legal Administrative Certificate from a recognized program)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar Real Estate / Conveyancing role
Technical & Professional Requirements:
- Experience preparing and registering purchase, mortgage, transfer, and discharge documents at the Land Title Office
- Experience conducting title and off-title due diligence searches (tax, company, PPR searches)
- Familiarity with ESILaw, NetDocuments, and Microsoft Office (asset)
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills
- Ability to manage high-volume files and tight deadlines
Nice to Haves:
- Experience with complex conveyancing transactions
- Exposure to commercial real estate files
- Experience preparing and filing LOTR declarations
Compensation
- Competitive salary range of $75,000 - $95,000, depending on experience
