Our client is a well-established civil construction contractor based in the Fraser Valley, delivering municipal and development-related infrastructure projects throughout the Lower Mainland. With a focus on roadwork, utilities, and servicing projects, they prioritize consistency, accountability, and long-term partnerships over chasing mega-projects.
About The Position
As a Civil Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for a wide range of municipal and civil construction projects. This is a remote-first role suited to an experienced estimator who values autonomy, collaboration, and hands-on involvement in the bidding process.
- MUST HAVE 5+ years’ experience with a strong background in municipal/civil construction estimating
- This role will be suitable for Candidate local to Vancouver Lower Mainland / Fraser Valley (BC)
Location: Lower Mainland / Fraser Valley (BC)
- Remote-first / Work-from-home
- Must be able to attend site walks and pre-bid meetings as required
- Occasional visits to the Abbotsford-area office
Compensation details:
Base Salary: $130,000-$160,000 (DOE) + Benefits
Main duties:
Pre-Bid & Estimating
- Review tender documents, drawings, and specifications.
- Attend site walks and pre-bid meetings as required.
- Perform quantity take-offs for civil scopes (earthworks, roadworks, utilities).
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Prepare detailed, accurate cost estimates and bid summaries.
- Identify risks, constructability issues, and value opportunities.
Tender Submission & Handover
- Collaborate with ownership and project teams during bid reviews.
- Assist with bid strategy, pricing adjustments, and final submissions.
- Support handover to project management after award.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with internal teams in a small, collaborative environment.
- Contribute to improving estimating processes and consistency.
- Maintain honest, clear communication throughout the bid cycle.
Requirements:
- 3-5+ years of civil construction estimating experience.
- Strong understanding of municipal civil work, including roads and utilities.
- Comfortable managing multiple bids with varying deadlines.
- Proficiency with construction software.
- Experience with municipal tendering processes in BC.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license; ability to travel to active sites daily.
