Job Description: Reporting to the Director of Digital Media, the Media Relations (Social Media) Specialist will focus on strong, effective social media communications in an ever-changing and highly complex environment while understanding how this high-risk position directly affects the SHA's reputation. This individual is responsible for implementing the integration and alignment of SHA's social media relations activities for consistent external communication, media relations and issues management. The Specialist works directly with Executive/Senior and Physician leaders to translates organizational plans into strategic and creative social media. As an expert in social media with strong knowledge of media relations, the Specialist will research, plan, develop and implement social media communications using comprehensive knowledge and thorough understanding of evolving social media and content management best practices; relevant statutory and legal requirements; and privacy legislation.
Experience
- 3-5 years' experience in communications and/or media relations with demonstrated experience in social media, editorial content development, and issues management
Education
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or Journalism
Other Education & Training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Licensed and in good standing with professional association and/or regulatory body, if applicable
Licenses
- Valid class 5 driver’s license

This position is critical in successfully developing and maintaining the public's trust and confidence in the health care system.
