Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative marketing and communications professional who is passionate about transforming the group retirement services business. The Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist provides marketing and communications consulting, including research, writing, and timely delivery of marketing communications initiatives targeting Group Retirement Services (GRS) plan sponsors, plan members, plan advisors, consultants and Client-facing staff.

Reporting to the Manager, Marketing and Communications the Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist will develop marketing and communications plans supporting GRS products and offerings, with a focus on creating engaging communications and marketing strategies.

What will you do?

As a Senior Marketing and Communications Specialist, you will:

  • Work with the Marketing team to create and activate marketing and communications plans, including project management.
  • Work with business partners across GRS, Market Development and Client Experience Office (CXO) (business development, shared services, product development, etc.) on communications initiatives.
  • Write and develop communications and marketing materials for different audiences about their group retirement workplace plans.
  • Manage the creation and maintenance of Client-facing content, presentation slides, templates, marketing collateral, and digital assets.
  • Measure the success of marketing campaigns and ensure target penetration and utilization rates are reached.
  • Work with designers, translation, legal, other internal business partners, and external agencies as appropriate.
  • Support with ad-hoc translation requests as required.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal key stakeholders across Sun Life to collaborate and drive successful campaigns that deliver results.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Post-secondary education in Marketing Communications, public relations, journalism and/or relevant experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years experience in copywriting, business writing or content marketing, preferably in the financial services industry
  • Demonstrates ability to develop and implement communication and marketing plans (from assessing needs to formulating strategy, implementing tactics, and measuring results)
  • Strong writing, editing and production skills
  • Ability to adapt the style, tone and complexity of topics in simplified and engaging content terms
  • Strong project, time management and organizational skills - ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Results oriented and resourceful with strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines with competing priorities
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • SharePoint knowledge

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
