Job Description:

Headquartered in Bermuda, Sun Life International delivers innovative life insurance solutions designed for the unique needs of High Net Worth (HNW) Clients around the world. We offer a portfolio of life insurance solutions to help High Net Worth Clients protect their wealth, fund their business succession plans and help future generations succeed. Reporting to the AVP, Pricing & Inforce Management for SL International, this role will support the strategic pricing and product development of SL International products to support growth objectives while balancing the interests of key stakeholders. The Director of Pricing will provide insight and interpretation of financial results and key risks to influence business decisions and develop innovative solutions to complex business issues.

What you'll be doing...

  • Collaborating with R&D and Product teams to actively design and develop new product initiatives.

  • Pricing of new product initiatives, ensuring compliance with all risk management policies and procedures.

  • Use actuarial models for deterministic or stochastic analysis, as appropriate, to ensure products meet internal profitability requirements

  • Provide actuarial and product expertise to key business partners and various levels of senior management by presenting results clearly, concisely, and accurately or answering questions on product features and pricing

  • Provide guidance on modeling and product development processes to other actuarial team members

  • Interact on cross-functional teams with colleagues of varied backgrounds (technical to non-technical; actuarial to non-actuarial)

  • Ensure work is compliant with various internal Governance requirements such as PD&P, MEUC, etc.

  • Exhibit leadership through understanding and support of ever-changing priorities to align with broader business objectives and strategic goals of a dynamic organization.

What you'll need to succeed...

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant actuarial work experience

  • FSA, FCIA, FIA, or career experience equivalent.

  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to present technical, complex concepts in a simple, comprehensive manner to all audiences (technical and non-technical)

  • Ability to interface with many different business partners across geographic locations.

  • Able to work independently as part of a cross-geographical team.

  • Strong commitment to client service. Due to the international aspect of the business, some meetings outside normal business hours may be required.

Preferred skills...

  • Able to converse in detail on the design and modeling of variance insurance products

  • Innovative mindset

  • Able to lead and work on multiple initiatives while meeting tight deadlines

  • Modeling experience with Pathwise

  • Prior experience leading and managing complex projects

  • Excellent leadership and people management skills

      The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
