A well-established player in the freight trucking industry, our client is currently seeking an Operations Supervisor to strengthen their logistics team.

Reporting to the Head of Transportation & Logistics, the Operations Supervisor is a mid-level frontline management position responsible for meeting the company's service commitments by overseeing daily trucking operations.

Responsibilities
Planning & Logistics
Lead and manage a fast-paced, high-volume transport operation through a team of dispatchers, terminal tractor operators, crane operators, and frontline staff, ensuring timely and accurate completion of container transport and related administrative tasks.

Monitor and utilize key performance indicators to manage transportation metrics, such as on-time pickup and delivery, truck utilization, mileage, intermodal container use, and HOS (Hours of Service).

Drive continuous improvement initiatives regarding fleet/equipment usage, maintenance availability, and energy efficiency.

Ensure the consistent flow of communication and information related to cargo delivery, keeping all relevant stakeholders informed of the actions required to maintain operational continuity.

Problem Solving
Understand client needs, respond appropriately, and foster strong business relationships.

Quickly assess and adapt to unforeseen circumstances, modifying schedules and operational plans as needed.

Make informed decisions based on safety, service, and productivity standards, in line with internal policies and procedures.

Proactively identify risks and issues, collaborating with others for effective and timely resolution.

Human Resources & Leadership
Participate in team meetings to improve productivity, resolve customer service challenges, and manage workload distribution.

Coach and support team members through clear communication, collaboration, and positive leadership.

Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate team personnel.

Provide onboarding guidance for new staff.

Build cooperative and constructive working relationships within the team and across departments.

Promote a strong safety culture.

Develop, implement, and assess continuous improvement plans to reduce incidents.

Proactively identify and address unsafe behaviors, working conditions, or processes.

Ensure compliance with all applicable company policies and procedures.

College diploma or university degree in transportation, logistics, supply chain, or equivalent experience. Experience in a terminal environment is considered an asset.

4-5 years of equivalent professional experience managing dispatch, trucks, and drivers.

Previous experience in a unionized environment.

Training in the transportation of hazardous materials is considered an asset.

Solid understanding of CAN/USA HOS (Hours of Service) regulations.
