Job Description

Reporting to the Manager, Privacy and Policy, the Quality and Risk Consultant plays a vital role in upholding the organization’s commitment to transparency, ethical practices, and quality care. The position is responsible for monitoring the Whistleblower platform, managing reports with timely and appropriate follow-up, maintaining accurate documentation, and writing reports for senior audiences. In addition, the Consultant works closely with policy colleagues to ensure consistency across organizational documents, develops and distributes communications, and contributes to reporting for homes, senior leadership and the board. The role also supports education initiatives and participates in projects that enhance quality practices across the organization. Success in this position requires exceptional communication skills, sound judgment in escalating issues, and a strong customer-service mindset.

This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities Include:

  • Receive and assess Whistleblower reports through designated channels, responding clearly and thoughtfully.

  • Triage and prioritize investigation cases, ensuring timely and appropriate follow-up.

  • Liaise with HR, long-term care homes, home care district and other head office teams as needed.

  • Ensure confidentiality, neutrality, and procedural fairness throughout the intake process.

  • Track the status of all Whistleblower and workplace investigations.

  • Monitor timelines and ensure timely communication, follow-through, and closure of cases.

  • Maintain accurate and secure documentation of all investigation activities.

  • Prepare detailed professional reports and assist with writing of -reports for senior audiences.

  • Develop, organize, and help deliver education sessions and resource materials.

  • Support continuous improvement by identifying trends and recommending improvements to policies, training, or processes.

  • Demonstrate strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Exercise sound judgment on when to escalate issues for further review.

  • Review and edit policies, procedures, and tools to ensure consistency with the Extendicare brand.

  • Assist team members in locating policies and resources.

  • Draft and distribute communications across the organization.

  • Assist the Quality and Risk team with assignments and projects as required.

What we’re looking for:

  • University education in business, human resources, communications or a related field.

  • 2-3 years of experience in compliance, workplace investigations, or a similar roles.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing reports and/or educational content for diverse audiences.

  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
