Position Overview:
The Landfill Attendant plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation of the landfill site. This position is responsible for directing customers to appropriate disposal areas, inspecting loads, maintaining site cleanliness, and ensuring compliance with all company and environmental regulations.
This is a part-time position. Your Schedule will be Thursday 8am – 12pm and Sunday 8am – 4pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and direct customers and commercial haulers to proper disposal areas within the landfill.
- Inspect incoming loads to ensure compliance with landfill regulations and to identify prohibited or hazardous materials.
- Record and document incoming materials accurately for billing and tracking purposes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the landfill site, including litter control and road maintenance support.
- Monitor and report any safety hazards, environmental concerns, or operational issues to the Supervisor.
- Assist equipment operators and other team members with daily landfill operations.
- Provide excellent customer service while ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times.
- Perform routine maintenance on small equipment and tools as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Previous experience in waste management, landfill operations, or a related field is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Ability to work in outdoor environments and in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions:
- Outdoor environment with exposure to weather, dust, noise, and landfill odors.
- Requires wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- May involve weekend or holiday shifts depending on site schedule.
