Own and steward Account data to enable confident decision making, support reliable marketplace reporting, and build trust in the quality of our data as our Account Domain Steward.
The Account Domain Steward leads and operationalizes enterprise-wide Account data governance. This role is accountable for the quality, governance, and lifecycle management of Account data, partnering with business, technology, and Data & Insights teams to ensure data is well defined, governed, and fit for purpose. The steward manages the golden record, resolves data issues, and establishes efficient, automated controls and workflows aligned to Deloitte Canada’s Data Governance Operating Model. Responsibilities include mastering Account data, meeting governance standards, achieving KPIs, managing requests within SLAs, and enabling trusted data for sales, financial, operational, and leadership decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
Account Domain Governance & Stewardship
- Own and operationalize Account domain data governance, including Critical Data Elements (CDEs), business definitions, metadata, and lifecycle controls. Act as the accountable decision authority for Account data standards, changes, prioritization, and issue escalation in alignment with the enterprise Data Governance framework.
Account Data Mastering, Data Quality & Issue Management
- Oversee monitoring, triage, and resolution of Account data quality issues impacting sales, pipeline, revenue, operational and reporting processes across Opportunity to Engagement (O2E) and Account lifecyle.
- Proactively monitor, identify, drive root-cause analysis and remediation in partnership with Technology, application owners (e.g., Salesforce / Juno), and Data & Insights teams, ensuring sustained improvements.
- Develop robust, automated workflows and proactive controls to monitor, identify and resolve Account data-related issues on a timely basis. Act as Product Owner for relevant Account data mastery application (e.g. Account-related Master and Reference Data Management applications) and data products.
- Leverage modern AI-tools to profile Account data, build automated controls and data mastery workflows.
Stakeholder Partnership & Enablement
- Partner with Domain Owners, Data Custodians, Data Stewards, users, business and technology teams to embed Account data accountability into operational processes. Enable consistent application of enterprise data standards, controls, and policies across platforms and downstream use cases.
- Own relationship with Global MDM team to ensure Account domain requirements and standards for the Canadian member firm are clearly established. Develop and monitor adherence to SLAs established between Canada and Global and drive issue escalation and resolution on a timely basis.
Change & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure Account data governance requirements are embedded upfront in relevant business, data and technology related. Drive data profiling, data migration, testing and certification of Account data quality across all relevant initiatives.
- Lead continuous improvement of Account data stewardship practices, documentation, including automation and use of modern AI tools to drive efficiency, productivity and data trust. Promote data literacy with relevant stakeholders.
People Leadership and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Account Data Stewards, setting clear priorities, performance expectations, and standards of practice. Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on accountability, quality, and business impact. Monitor Account data governance KPIs and SLAs and embed into performance management.
The Data & Insights team is a collaborative, forward-thinking group of professionals dedicated to leveraging data to drive value and innovation. Our mission is to empower the organization with actionable insights and cutting-edge analytics, fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. Join us in shaping the future of data and insights at Deloitte.
You are someone with these required skills:
- 5+ years in master data management, data governance or related data management experience working with business critical data domains (e.g., Account, Client, Sales, Opportunity, Revenue) within a complex, enterprise environment, with hands-on accountability for data quality and usage
- Proven experience operationalizing data governance within an established framework, including stewardship of Critical Data Elements (CDEs), business definitions, metadata, and lifecycle controls
- Strong understanding of end-to-end data lifecycle management, including data creation, mastering, change management, issue triage, and retirement across upstream and downstream systems
- Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with senior business leaders, Technology teams, and data platform owners to resolve data issues, assess impacts, and embed governance into operational processes
- Experience leading or coordinating data quality monitoring, issue management, and rootcause remediation, with a focus on sustainable improvements rather than onetime fixes
- Prior experience acting in a formal Data Steward, Domain Steward, or Data Product Owner role within a federated (hub and spoke) data governance operating model.
- Experience working with MDM platforms such as Informatica or similar systems supporting data mastery, data management and/or data governance.
It would be great for you to have some of these nice to have’s as well:
- Degree in Information Systems or MIS, Computer Science or Software Engineering, Economics, Finance or Accounting, Industrial Engineering, Statistics or Applied Analytics or related fields
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate governance requirements into practical business actions
