The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, permanent Advanced Practice Clinical Leader (APCL) in the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline Program. This important program area requires an APCL to provide clinical leadership that will advance and enhance direct service provision, the design of service interventions, change management and quality improvement initiatives, education/training programs, policies and procedures, and evaluation/research within the portfolio.

Reporting to the Director, 9-8-8 Partnerships and Strategy, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with 9-8-8 administrative leadership, the program team(s), and Chief Medical Officer, to support evidence based interventions. The APCL will use theoretical foundations, experience, and research to promote and advance excellence in clinical practice that is client-centered and honors diversity of persons. A major focus of the advanced practice role is the application and integration of best practice standards and processes into the work of this portfolio. The APCL collaborates with, and provides support, clinical supervision, consultation, and education/training to diverse non-clinical staff (e.g. researchers, 9-8-8 responders/supervisors, administrators, education leads, technical subject matter experts) in order to advance clinical excellence throughout the portfolio.

The successful candidate will work across five interrelated domains: practice, consultation, education, research and scholarship, and leadership. Through these domains, the APCL will work to inform the delivery of services in this portfolio, including providing clinical consulting to staff, embedding best practices into all areas of the programs (education, policies and standard operating procedures, service delivery manuals, etc.), supporting the research and evaluation of services, change management and quality improvement initiatives, and representing CAMH/clinical perspectives on internal and external committees, including acting in a Chair position from time to time. The APCL may also contribute through these domains to other programs within the 9-8-8 broader department including Virtual Mental Health, ECHO, and Outreach.

The APCL will support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements. This position is located the Queen Street campus.

The successful candidate will possess a Master’s Degree in a Health Sciences Discipline and will be a member in good standing with the respective regulatory College. In addition, 5 years’ experience in mental health and addiction treatment is required. The candidate is also required to have strong knowledge of crisis and suicide prevention services, and the complex needs of virtual models of care. The successful candidate will have demonstrated the ability to provide professional practice leadership; the ability to challenge and motivate others; a commitment to enhancing academic and research endeavours; experience in leading change and the ability to provide advanced clinical care in a culturally diverse environment. Strong stakeholder management skills and experience are required. Previous advanced practice/administrative/academic scholarship is an asset. The candidate will also have excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, teaching and computer skills. Bilingualism (French/English) or proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
