About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Director, Business Services, the Senior Manager, Corporate IT Business Unit manages business facing IT functions to enable the corporate business units, this includes business engagement, planning, demand management, portfolio architecture, application support and operations.

The Senior Manager will act as a strategic business relationship leader, fostering trusted partnerships with key stakeholders and executives to drive ongoing service enhancements. This role ensures IT remains aligned with and supports corporate business units by managing IT investments, performance, and costs to deliver on Cenovus’ strategic objectives

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the team in defining, documenting, and promoting IT procedures, sharing expertise, and establishing protocols and best practices.

  • Collaborate with IT senior leadership, managers, and institutional partners to set performance metrics, analyze data, and recommend improvement strategies aligned with business objectives.

  • Oversee the IT budget and guide the business in making strategic investments in technology to achieve organizational goals.

  • Evaluate options, costs, and economic implications, and develop business cases to address internal client challenges, including preparing documentation for the Investment Committee.

  • Partner with the Strategy & Performance team to shape IT strategy and ensure domain-level architecture aligns with enterprise architecture guidelines throughout its lifecycle.

  • Support prioritization and investment decisions for IT-related business opportunities, working closely with Strategy & Performance on budget input and project initiation.

  • Administer the IT Business Unit Operating Budget, including budgeting, forecasting, licensing, maintenance renewals, workforce planning, and software asset management.

  • Ensure effective application management to support IT operations, including adherence to SLAs and vendor performance oversight.

Who you are:

Minimum Qualifications for the Ideal Candidate:

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • At least 16 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a management role.

  • A degree in Business, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or Data Science is considered an asset.

  • Proven experience in developing investment cases and strategic plans and collaborating with senior leadership.

  • Strong background in IT budget management with solid financial acumen.

  • Hands-on experience across all phases of IT outsourcing, including RFP, transition, and continual service improvement.

  • Experience delivering large-scale projects (e.g., SAP implementations or new service rollouts) is an asset.
