Description
Intern, Business Analyst (Capacity Management)
This is a full-time summer internship lasting from May 11, 2026, until August 28, 2026.
Job Summary
The Capacity Management Intern will support CN’s Reservation & Capacity Management team by assisting in the automation of processes, development of dashboards, and enhancement of data reporting tools. This role offers exposure to CN’s IMX Train Reservation system and its transformation roadmap. The intern will work with cross-functional teams to improve operational efficiency, customer experience, and data-driven decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Assist in analyzing reservation and capacity data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Support automation of routine tasks using Excel macros, scripts, or dashboard tools.
- Help develop reporting solutions to track reservation volumes, disputes, and access profiles.
- Contribute to the design of dashboards that visualize daily reservation activity and train plan blocks.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to refine data for operational and commercial sensitivity.
- Participate in mapping business processes and identifying areas for automation.
- Assist in defining KPIs and building visualizations for performance tracking.
- Learn and apply tools such as Tableau, Power BI, and SQL to support reporting and analytics.
- Support the creation of presentations and reports for internal stakeholders.
Requirements
- Academic or internship experience in data analysis, automation or business analytics.
- Experience working with large volumes of data and reporting tools.
- Familiarity with SAP, SRS, Tableau, Power BI or similar systems is an asset.
- Education/Certification/Designation
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or Commerce.
- Initiates and drives organizational changes to enable business transformation
- Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, formulas, macros), Tableau, Power BI, or similar tools. Familiarity with SQL or database concepts is an asset.
- Understanding of EDI and API data flows.
- Basic financial literacy (ROI, breakeven analysis)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Education
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or Commerce.
