THE ROLEImagine the excitement and ability to show off your incredible skills in a deployed environment (overseas) for six months managing morale and welfare operations for the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) and partner nations from across the world!
The Senior Manager oversees the planning, coordinating, managing and control of the operations and delivery programs including physical fitness, sports, recreation, home leave travel programs (HLTA), barbering, accounting, retail operations and, special events for deployed operations. You ensure programs delivered are relevant to the enhancement of operational performance. You advise the Commanding Officer/ senior military officer on programs and policies, and provide guidance and direction to team members on the delivery of services. You also ensure the well-being of your entire morale and welfare team.
The Senior Manager will utilize their previous managerial experience, coupled with excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to provide the highest level of service to Canadian and/or partner nation clientele. Interaction and briefings with local and outlying (based on mission location) military senior level Chains of Command are vital to the success, and delivery of consistent mission-critical programs, services and information.
The Senior Manager also plays an important role in enhancing the morale of CAF members by providing direct customer service to Canada and its partner nations in a deployed setting, underpinned by a high level of customer service, while receiving support from Headquarters.
In addition, the Senior Manager assists with recreational activities and events. Keeping the military energized ensures they are mentally and physically ready to sustain the difficulties of military operations, and live healthy balanced lives.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
College diploma or certificate in Business Administration, Commerce, Physical Education or Recreation
Canadian citizenship
Must have a valid Canadian passport
Valid Canadian driver’s license (Class G or Class 5)
Experience
In planning, managing, and evaluating the operations and delivery of physical fitness, sports, Home Leave Travel, recreation programs, retail operations, special events and rest and recreation activities
In providing advice and guidance
In project management
In planning, organizing, managing, and evaluation the operations and delivery of travel programs
In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation
In preparing and administering tournaments, sporting and recreation events
In managing facilities
In retail practices
In budget administration
In personnel administration
In business planning
In working in a deployment environment, an asset
Competencies

Additional Qualifications Prior to Deployment
Completion of a health, dental and psychosocial assessment
Security screening
Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications
Ability to walk and lift, carry, pull/or push heavy items

JOB INFORMATION
POSITION TYPE
Civilian deployment contracts are 6-month terms. Deployment start dates may take place within the next 2 years.
Hours of work: Maximum 56 hours per week, which includes weekdays and weekends.
BENEFITS
Tax free allowance: Possibility of up to $1,756 per month in addition to your salary (allowance rates are based on mission/location/date).
Home leave and travel allowance: Possibility of paid leave and travel allowance.

IF SUCESSFUL - SELECTION AND TRAINING COURSE
Successful candidates will be invited to participate in a multi-day training and selection course.
Location: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Date: April 24, 2026 - May 3, 2026
Compensation: Fully paid attendance, including travel, accommodations and meals
Purpose: You will learn more in-depth about the day-to-day expectations, technical work-related training, as well as a basic understanding of military practices and procedures. This will give you an opportunity to learn more about our organization as well as interact with like-minded people that may be deploying with you. Your completion of the training session will be valid for 2 years.
