THE ROLE

Under the direction of an Associate Director, Resilience and Engagement, Strategic Program Development, the Senior Manager will be responsible for providing leadership to a team dedicated to creating and communicating employment connections and career development opportunities for Canadian military spouses/partners as they navigate the pressures of military life.

They will bring a strong understanding of economic and labour market trends, solid business acumen and experience with financial and contract management, as well as knowledge of virtual delivery of education and training programs. They will lead and manage the implementation, evaluation and reporting of key initiatives such as the Military Spousal Employment Network (MSEN) and CareerCOACH+, among others. They will oversee activities aimed to support families through military challenges like relocations, deployments and transitions.

They will represent MFS in strategic collaborations and partnerships within the military-Veteran-family ecosystem and be familiar with communicating to various stakeholders, including families and CAF leadership.

They will liaise and engage with other teams within MFS and CFMWS to mobilize a network of support required to enhance the operational readiness of military members and the well-being of their families.

As a leader within MFS, they will be accountable for ensuring their teams are delivering on strategic initiatives and building key relationships with their peers and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Business Administration, Community Development or a related field AND several years of experience in the non-profit and/or family resources programs

Experience

In the development and implementation of community programs

In planning and facilitating presentations and workshops

In developing, interpreting, implementing and applying policies, procedures, and legislation/regulations

In budget administration

In project management

In personnel administration

In business planning

In the not-for-profit sector, an asset

Competencies, Skills and Abilities

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

English or French Essential / Bilingual an asset

Reading: Advanced

Writing: Functional

Oral: Advanced

OTHER INFORMATION

This is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.

As part of the selection process, the successful candidate must successfully complete a Reliability status security screening.

This is a temporary position with an anticipated start date of March 9, 2026 and end date of October 31, 2030.
