THE ROLEUnder the direction of the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis, the Senior Manager, Finance Business Partners leads a team of finance professionals who act as trusted advisors to divisional leadership. The role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high‑quality financial reporting, forecasting, budget administration, and strategic financial advice to support informed decision‑making and the achievement of divisional strategies and objectives. As a people leader and senior finance professional, the Senior Manager drives consistency, quality, and insight across financial business partnering activities while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with divisional management teams. The role supports the preparation and review of corporate business plans, business cases, and briefing notes from a financial perspective, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and financial objectives. The Senior Manager interprets and evaluates financial results and positions, including operating results and budget variances, and provides clear analysis and recommendations to senior management. This includes identifying and addressing potential funding pressures, recommending cost‑containment or reallocation strategies, and supporting initiatives to improve overall financial performance. The role also provides guidance to management on Public Fund policies and ensures compliance with Public Fund requirements, including Delegation of Financial Signing Authorities, Contracting, and Hospitality, for programs and services funded through the Department of National Defence (DND) Public Fund.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce or Business Administration with accounting specialization, or a related field, AND several years of experience in accounting or a related field
AND
Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, an asset
Experience
In writing business plans
In forecasting and budget setting processes
In producing financial statements
In Public Sector Accounting, an asset

OTHER INFORMATIONThis is a hybrid position with an assigned work location allowing the employee to work partly from a corporate office and partly from a home office in accordance with the CFMWS Flexible Work Options Policy, and with approval from the direct manager.
