THE ROLE

The Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) is a unique national military university that provides the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with exemplary officers to serve Canada.

We’re looking for a Varsity Program Manager who is passionate about collegiate athletics and thrives in a structured, mission-driven environment. In this role, you’ll lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of a comprehensive varsity athletics program that aligns with the strategic priorities of the institution.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience in sports administration, program management, and stakeholder coordination, along with the ability to develop and implement policies, manage budgets, and oversee operations. You’ll be responsible for coordinating all aspects of varsity programming-from scheduling, transportation, and game administration to staff recruitment, athletic therapy services, and awards programs-while ensuring compliance with governing bodies and institutional standards.

You are a highly organized leader and problem-solver who can manage multiple priorities, support coaches and student-athletes, and foster strong relationships with internal and external partners. A key part of your role will involve monitoring program effectiveness, ensuring academic eligibility and compliance, managing risk, and maintaining clear communication across all stakeholders.

This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of varsity athletics by driving strategic planning, overseeing resource allocation and promoting innovation. Your work will directly support the success, well-being, and development of student-athletes while strengthening the institution’s presence within the athletic community.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED

Education, Certifications and Licenses

Bachelor degree in Physical Education, Sports Administration, Kinesiology or in a related field and several years of experience in intercollegiate athletics

Current CPR and Basic First Aid qualifications

Experience

In managing varsity or inter-collegiate sports programs

In resources management for sports activities

In budget administration

In personnel administration

In preparing and delivering presentations

In applying policies, procedures, regulations, and applicable legislation

In sports facilities management and development

Competencies

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

Bilingual (English and French) Essential

Reading: Advanced

Writing: Functional

Oral: Advanced
