THE ROLEUnder the supervision of the Museum Director, the Museum Gift Shop Supervisor plans, organizes, and oversees the daily operations of the gift shop. They maintain inventory and track purchases and sales, order merchandise, arrange displays, and research and recommend additions to inventory.
The Supervisor trains and oversees volunteer gift shop attendants, operates a cash register, processes refunds, and prepares and completes bank deposits. They respond to general inquiries, assist customers with merchandise, and address any concerns or complaints.
In addition, they process invoices, purchase orders, and cheque requisitions, maintain filing systems, and assist with stocktaking.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDEDEducation, Certifications and Licenses
High school diploma AND several years of experience in retail, personnel supervision or a related field
Experience
In basic accounting
In preparing sales reports
In stocktaking and inventory checks
In using a Point of Sale (POS) system
In merchandising
In personnel administration

Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership.
