Description
The successful applicant will work in compliance with all relevant and applicable legislation and Hospital Policies and Procedures, will practice the Bluewater Health Standards of Performance Excellence and will fulfill their role within the Attendance Support Program parameters. The successful applicant will also possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and will have strong attention to detail and accuracy.

-Current CPR and AED certification required
-Graduate of Health Sciences Program preferred
-Successful completion of a Post Secondary Program preferred
-Must be available to attend 4 weeks full time training in London
-Knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control procedures required
-Basic proficiency in the use of computers required
-Ability to meet the physical demands of this job required
-Knowledge of proper lifting techniques required
-Recent experience as a Dialysis Unit Assistant required
-Recent experience working in a Healthcare environment preferred
-Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
-Assists with the patients before, during or after dialysis in appropriate activities
-Notifies the appropriate supervisor of any concerns or problems regarding the patients or machines for further follow up or direction
-Assists in appropriate activities for the day to day functioning of the unit
-Orders and restocks supplies for the Unit
-Accesses the patient’s haemodialysis kardex for information pertinent to organizing and preparing haemodialysis machines for treatment and prepares the haemodialysis machine for patient use
-Participates in unit/department and Hospital Quality Improvement initiatives
-Completes continuing education requirements as necessary
-Other related duties as assigned
Selection will be made on the basis of ability, experience and qualifications as per Article 11.04 of the SEIU Collective Agreement
