The Senior Vice President (SVP), Corporate and Clinical Support Services is responsible for a suite of comprehensive services including Finance, Communications, Human Resources, Legal, Nutrition, Food, Linen & Environmental Services, Protective Services, Pharmacy, Diagnostic Imaging, Emergency Disaster Management and Systems Strategy & Clinical Excellence across the province. The Senior Vice President (SVP), Corporate and Clinical Support Services is responsible for a suite of comprehensive corporate and clinical support services across the province of Alberta. As part of the executive team, the SVP works with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and colleagues to set the vision, goals, and standards for acute care, ensuring alignment with AHS’s strategic plan, service agreements, provincial direction, and Acute Care Alberta. Reporting to the CEO, the SVP provides strategic guidance, builds strong relationships with government and stakeholders, and ensures effective operational leadership across corporate and clinical support services. The role leads senior leaders accountable for service delivery and sets long‑term strategic direction, identifies key challenges and opportunities, and develops strategic and innovative approaches based on these insights. This includes providing executive level leadership in the running of complex, integrated programs and services that support organizational goals and enable effective service delivery. The SVP is responsible for approximately 18,000 employees and an operating budget over $1.3B within the Corporate and Clinical Support Services portfolio, as well as oversight of AHS’ overall operating budget of more than $8.5B and approximately $100M capital budget. Responsibilities include financial management, performance oversight, strategic resource allocation, risk management, and system‑level reporting essential to informed decision‑making.

The successful candidate will have Master’s degree in business, management, finance, accounting, health administration or related area, with at least 10 years’ senior management experience. Provincial or national experience in leading the delivery of integrated public sector corporate and clinical support services. A combination of qualifications and experience may be considered.

In addition, the successful candidate will have: Risk management expertise, experience in anticipating risk and developing risk mitigation strategies. Experience developing organization strategy and planning, including leading strategic initiatives and managing change to achieve positive results. Demonstrated leadership abilities, including comfort with decision-making and exercising sound judgement. Proven ability to foster partnerships to achieve organizational goals, coupled with the ability to influence, negotiate, and mediate resolutions to complex situations. Proven ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of audiences, including interpersonal and public relations skills. Demonstrated ability to model innovation and creativity. A proven record of engaging in ethical conduct.

Leadership experience in healthcare, government, or a related industry in an organization of significant size, diversity, and complexity.
