Description
Join the Business Advisory Services (BAS) Corporate Services & CFO team as a Senior Financial Analyst supporting the provincial Capital Equipment portfolio. As a supporting role within Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst is responsible and accountable to supporting financial accuracy in the delivery of capital equipment across multiple health organizations within Alberta. On the direction of Finance Leadership, the Senior Financial Analyst will provide finance and business systems expertise, offer day-to-day decisive support for organizational projects and initiatives to key internal and external stakeholders such as Capital Management, Contracting Procurement and Supply Management, and various Foundations; often acting as the initial main point of contact for the client groups. The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for discerning and interpreting several funding streams and detailed financial structure in the recording of capital equipment, providing budget oversight and support, and preparing and evaluating financial results. The successful candidate must be self-motivated, work effectively within a team environment, provide leadership, support, coaching/mentoring, and specialized advice to colleagues and co-workers on all aspects of capital financial operations. The position requires a client focused individual with the ability to create strong partnerships and clearly communicate with various stakeholders.
As a Senior Financial Analyst, you will coordinate and/or prepare complex financial and statistical analysis and reports, along with providing interpretation of analyses and reports to support business and external requirements. Your work will be focused on budgets, forecasting, recommendations for program and/or cost efficiencies and development or enhancements to processes and controls. In addition, you will coordinate and monitor progress of financial projects, as well as coach and guide other department staff such as Financial Analysts.
Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field (e.g. economics, statistics).
Intermediate MS Excel skills. Experience with financial management systems, especially in areas of financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, and internal control. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and as part of the team. Strong communication and presentation skills. Adaptability to work in a changing environment and support projects with varying amounts of information. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, customer focused orientation and commitment to provide a quality service. A combination of work experience and education would be considered as well.
Achievement of a Professional Accounting Designation is preferred. Oracle Project Costing (OPC) experience would be preferred.
