What is the Opportunity?

As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP, SMRX Project). Aecon in conjunction with their main construction partner Kiewit will support the validation phase design, procurement, site preparation and Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

Reporting to the Power Block Execution Director for an operational perspective and Project Controls Lead Planner for all technical matters, the Site Execution Planner will support the maintenance of project schedules across the Power Block during physical execution phase, encompassing both the Nuclear Island (NI) and Conventional Island (CI) scope.

What Youll Do Here:

The Site Execution Planner responsibilities include supporting the construction execution team in monitoring day-to day field site activities, and prioritizing work execution against the project schedule, this to include:

  • Ensures execution is driven by project priorities and critical path milestones.
  • Aligns daily, weekly, and 12-week lookahead planning with field execution teams.
  • Own the daily and weekly schedule progress tracking to ensure execution remains on track.
  • Prepare and regularly update the project integrated schedule in Primavera P6, linked to current site progress and changes is erection sequencing and day-day progress.
  • Manage, report and escalate on deviations from the approved Primavera P6 schedule and their specific impact to complete dates.
  • Work closely with Project Manager and Site Execution Team to ensure schedules are accurate and comprehensive, and include milestones, activities and associated durations, dependencies, predecessors, successors, lag time, and all other pertinent project data to allow for monitoring and control.
  • Ensure accurate resource planning and validate schedule logic, activity durations, float allocation and critical path identification.
  • Liaise with the Engineering, Supply Chain, Construction, Operations, Finance, Subcontractors and any other project specific stakeholders, whose actions may impact project plan/progress/schedule, to devise, agree and carry on any mitigation action.
  • Prepare month end reports/corporate dashboards and management presentations.
  • Attend meetings on the project and inform relevant project personnel on schedule updates.
  • Perform detailed schedule analysis.
  • Attend meetings with site Execution Teams at site and update schedules.
  • Produce reports and graphics for earned value reporting.
  • Maintaining liaison with project management regarding scheduling activities and assisting them in determining schedule priorities.
  • Provide timely feedback to Project Managers and Construction Executing Team with regards to activities trending away from the set plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Engineering degree or a related experience is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years construction experience in a site co-ordination capacity across multi-disciplines with specific reference to construction industry.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related planning & scheduling experience, specifically with Primavera P6.
  • Experience in an EPC environment is preferred but not essential.
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excell and use of SharePoint and project databases.
  • Have an understanding in design and construction requirements.
  • Demonstratable strong coordination and organization skills.
  • Advanced ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with all internal organization departments, Alliance partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrable collaborative working experience and stakeholder management capabilities.
