Library Technician / Clerk
E.W. Pratt School
E.W. Pratt High School (grades 10-12) is located in the town of High Prairie which is at the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 749, within Big Lakes County. High Prairie is approximately 371 kilometres northwest of Edmonton and 118 kilometres west of Slave Lake.
Students are offered an academic program with access to an extensive list of options as well as a wide variety of activities to become involved in our school. WE Pratt students come from eight different communities in the surrounding region and our staff take pride in building a cohesive community among the students.
High Prairie School Division provides many professional development opportunities both at the school and division level. The goal is to provide employees with many opportunities to support growth and advancement in their professional practice.
Duties :
Work with staff in a supportive role to develop a school program which effectively integrates Learning Commons (Library) and classroom activities; Work with staff to ensure the collection is current, balanced and culturally appropriate
Operate the automated Learning Commons system; Maintain Learning Commons files and an inventory of all materials and equipment;
Provide service to students and staff, assisting them in the selection of materials suited to their needs and abilities
Promote reading, listening, and viewing of resource materials
Assist in the development of skills related to technology; Facilitate Makerspace activities
Cooperate with other Learning Commons Clerks / Technicians and agencies to obtain information not available from the school's collection and ensure that these materials are returned; Coordinate the circulation of HPSD Central Loaning Library materials
Supervise students
Note: this position may require travel for the purpose of selecting resources or Professional Development

Excellent interpersonal communication skills
An ORIGINAL, acceptable, recent (less than six months old) RCMP Criminal Record Check (including a Vulnerable Sector Check).
Qualifications:
Good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
Senior High School Diploma or equivalent
specialized training or experience in library science is an asset.
NOTE: Library clerks must complete required courses towards a Library Operations Certificate of Achievement (or equivalent) within 5 years of commencement of employment.
