Thirty minutes outside of Grande Prairie lies the idyllic town of Beaverlodge. With approximately 5000 residents, it is a busy clinical site due to support provided to a larger geographic area. This area boasts an indoor swimming pool and various other historic sites. Beaverlodge will be home to the new Mountview Health Complex based on an integrated health facility or Campus of Care Model with multiple healthcare services co-located in one facility. It will include 30+ Sub Acute beds and a 16-hour Advanced Ambulatory Care Centre. Your opportunity is in a smaller fast paced, dynamic, multi-disciplinary team including two occupational Therapists, 2 trained assistants, 2 physiotherapists, speech language pathology and social work, work in close collaboration with the physician and nursing teams. This team supports acute care, home care, long term care, community, and one DSL site in both Beaverlodge and Hythe. It is an extremely rewarding placement and allows for the therapist to develop their services based on the community needs. This position provides a high level of independence and case management, but mentoring and support is always available. Along with a variety of career development opportunities, we offer a competitive rate of pay, and a Remote Retention Allowance to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible for the coordination of occupational therapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As an Occupational Therapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure occupational therapy practice is evidence-based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. As assigned, you will carry out the roles of a direct clinical service provider, consultant, educator and/or advocate in your program or service area.

Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT).
