Program Description for the Clifford Bowey Public School and Crystal Bay

Centre for Special Education: This program is for students who are

presently attending the Crystal Bay Centre for Special Education, Clifford

Bowey Public School, or semi-integrated programs for students with

developmental disabilities. The goal of this program is to maintain the

academic, language, communication, social and life skills of the students.

Field trips, swimming outings, and excursions within the local community will

be incorporated into the program.

Roberta Bondar Public School, 159 Lorry Greenberg

Drive, Ottawa, ON K1T 3J6

Program Description for the Roberta Bondar Public School: This program is for

students who are presently attending the Autism Program or Semi-Integrated

Program for students with developmental disabilities. The goal of this program

is to maintain the academic, language, communication, social and life skills of

the students. Field trips, swimming outings, and excursions within the local

community will be incorporated into the program.

HOURS OF WORK: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday to Friday

Note: Hours of work may be adjusted at the discretion of the Site

Administrator or Assistant Administrator.

SALARY : Casuals: $23.45 per hour + percentage of vacation

pay

Regulars

will receive their current rate of pay

PAYMENT: Payment will be in accordance with

the Memorandum of Agreement as set out by OSSTF and the employer

START DATE: Staff Orientation (3 hours on July 2,

2024 or as advised by Site Principal)

CLASSES: Wednesday, July 3, 2024 to Thursday, July 25, 2024

DEADLINE: 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 10, 2024

DUTIES: Under the direction of the classroom

teacher, the Educational Assistant will assist children with physical needs

such as: dressing, undressing, feeding, toileting, lifting, etc., preparing

teaching aids and devices as directed, assisting the teacher with difficult

classroom situations; and supervising class work of groups of children or individual

pupils while the classroom teacher is working with other students. Other

related duties may be assigned by the classroom teacher and/or Site

Administrator.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION: Secondary School

Graduation Diploma along with training and experience with children with

special needs. The ability to work as a team member under the direction of a

teacher and a high degree of patience and understanding are required. Knowledge

and understanding of specific social/emotional and physical needs of students

with learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, developmental disabilities

or physical challenges as well as Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, First Aid

and CPR will be considered an asset.
