If so, you may be the person we are looking for. We require an inspirational, high-engagement leader with the skills and philosophy to work with us in the collaborative redesign of our education system. We require a passion for education, an inspiring vision of what education can become to support First Nation Communities, the ability to adapt to change, progressive leadership skills and demonstrated administrative abilities. Your duties will encompass system redesign, relationship building, mentorship and coaching, advocacy, partnership development and connections. Be open to discovering new ways of working and know the social and historical issues impacting First Nations communities.
Kispiox Community School is located in Kispiox, British Columbia. Kispiox is a Gitxsan village of approximately 650. Approximately 13km outside of Hazelton, BC. Tucked in between Terrace (157km) and Smithers (88km)
Preferred Position Requirements
· Master of Leadership in Education
· Bachelor of Education and eligible for BC Teaching Certificate
· Knowledge of FNSA and FNESC
Job Description
• Implementing a curriculum for academic success while maintaining compliance with government guidelines
• Coordinating schedules for staff designed to optimize efficiency and workplace satisfaction
• Creating goals and benchmarks for students and teachers alike to track progress
• Developing programs to improve overall student and Teacher performance
• Meeting with the school board to report the status and progress of the school
• Meeting with parents to discuss concerns about students
