GHES is located within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin D ü n First Nation and Ta'an Kw ä ch' ä n Council. We value experiential/place based learning on the land and inside the classroom. We strive to use the best research-driven teaching methods that foster learner agency and student-led learning experiences.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent;
- Additional post-secondary coursework in related fields such as counselling and special education.
- Teaching experience at various grade levels across K-7, with attention to health and wellness curriculum programming and delivery;
- Experience in implementing Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) programs, such as The Zones of Regulation and We Thinkers.
- Experience providing one-on-one or group counselling to support students in emotional, behavioral, and academic areas.
- Experience in Social Work is considered an asset.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Ability to track student behaviour, assess needs, and triage appropriate supports, as well as assist in the development of relevant Student Support Plans (SSPs).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate with students, staff, and families.
- Familiarity with restorative justice practices and collaborative problem-solving.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and inclusive practices.
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations and promoting equity in school settings.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues with care.
- Strong knowledge of child development and trauma-informed practices in educational settings.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Yukon Teacher Certification; learn about the certification process
- Yukon First Nations 101, to be completed at your first opportunity.
