Living In Yukon, Thriving in Life
Our goal is to support all learners in developing the essential skills, knowledge and personal qualities that they need to thrive in life.
Are you passionate about shaping the future of education in the Yukon? The Department of Education is dedicated to providing high-quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all Yukoners. We are committed to excellence, inclusivity, and innovation in every aspect of our work.
The department plays a crucial role in delivering a wide range of services and supports that span from early learning to adult education and encompass K-12 schooling. We are proud of the diverse team of professionals who collaborate to develop and implement policies, programs and initiatives that promote student success and enhance educational outcomes across the territory.
Robert Service School is a K-12 school with approximately 200 students. We have a highly dedicated and diverse staff led by the RSS Principal and the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Education Manager and supported by an engaged community. Situated in Dawson City, Yukon, on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Territory, those of us who call it home live according to principles that are referred to as Tr’ëhude, living or going through the world in a good way. Section 17.7 of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Self-Government Agreement commits Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and the Government of Yukon to share responsibility for lifelong learning on Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in Traditional Territory. The administration, design, and delivery of education is co-governed and emphasizes an integrated education system built on a foundation of Dënezhu and local ways of knowing, being, and doing. We follow the lead of our learners and respond by providing opportunities that can meet their needs and that allow them to discover their purpose.
