We are currently seeking a talented individual to join the Jack Hulland Elementary School team. JHES acknowledges and respects, and are grateful for the opportunity to work, learn and play within the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta’an Kwäch’än Council. Jack Hulland Elementary is a Kindergarten to Grade 7 neighbourhood school aiming to foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive educational environment; one where each student is supported to meet their full potential. This position provides an opportunity to work as a Temporary 1.0 FTE Primary Physical Education Teacher for the duration of 30 days at JHES commencing September 22, 2025 and concluding on November 5, 2025. JHES is a Ready to Learn School, using the Neurosequential Model in Education to drive our practice.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor of Education;
- Experience teaching in an elementary school (K-7);
- Experience integrating social-emotional learning (SEL) strategies into physical education and school-wide activities;
- Knowledge of physical education curriculum and best practices for promoting physical literacy, fitness, and well-being;
- Experience teaching physical education as a dedicated subject is an asset;
- Formal training and demonstrated application of Neurosequential Model in Education (NME) principles within a school setting is an asset.
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Knowledge of & sensitivity to the culture & aspirations of the First Nations people of Yukon & a culturally diverse student population.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish trusting relationships when working with students, families, staff members and administrators;
- Effective and respectful classroom management based on a developmental understanding of children;
- Strong planning and organizational skills;
- A strong commitment to the practice of differentiated instruction and assessment within classroom programming designed to meet individual student needs;
- Ability to adapt curriculum to meet a wide range of learning abilities and styles and to meet the needs of students with Individual Education Plans;
- Ability to develop and implement Individual Educational Plan and Student Behavioural Plans in collaboration with school staff;
- Willingness and ability to work as a member of a professional team and to promote, support and work collaboratively with all staff on school initiatives within the total school program;
- Willingness to support the philosophy, values and beliefs of the school and to support the school growth plan;
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector; to be provided before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
