Position: Education assistant

End Date: June 12, 2026

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Please clearly demonstrate on your cover letter and resume, how you meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Grade 12 graduation or equivalent;
- Experience working with children and/or youth , preferably in a school or educational setting
- Experience working in dynamic learning environments supporting neurodiverse learners and students with individualized learning needs;
- Experience implementing instructional, behavioural, and regulation strategies to children and/ or youth as directed by a supervisor
- Conversational French (oral and written proficiency), is an asset
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND SUITABILITY:
Candidates should have and may be assessed on their:
- Post-secondary education or training related to Educational Assistance, Early Childhood Education, Special Education Support, or a related field.
- Experience with implementing the use of assistive technology, visual supports, or alternative and augmentative communication (AAC).
- Familiarity with self-regulation, co-regulation, and sensory-informed practices.
- Ability to remain calm, regulated, and emotionally present in dynamic learning environments, including during times of student dysregulation or behavioural challenge.
- Strong attunement to students' verbal and non-verbal communication, responding in a respectful, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate manner.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn about Yukon First Nations cultures and community contexts.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Criminal Record/RCMP Check with Vulnerable Sector ; to be provide before the first day of employment, dated no more than 3 months prior to your start date
- Standard First Aid ; to be provided within 3 months of the first day of employment
- Completion of the Education Assistant YG Learn course
